Dollars For Dreams

Greetings everyone. It's time to turn our attentions to a new cause.
Some of you may know a beautiful young woman known as orphan_project. Recently she got some hard news and is in a rough spot. She works part time, but has no health insurance and has to pay for all of her own care.
She discovered this week that the physical problems in her back are going to require physical therapy two to three times per week for the next three months.
This amounts to nearly $2000 that she doesn't have.
There are multiple issues, including scar tissue in her left shoulder, neck and lower back, calcium deposits between two vertebrae where there should be a disk and a problem in her neck. These issues limit her ability to lift or perform repetitive motions, cause numbness in her arm and contribute to debilitating migraines. Left untreated the disk problem in her lower back could prevent her from having children in the future.
Some of this can be traced to a car accident she had in 2009, but the causes of other issues are not so clear cut.
Regardless, orphan_project needs to raise some dollars to help pay for her medical costs.

Some of us are trying to put together a short story anthology to benefit Emily. Stories can be between 5,000 and 10,000 words long, but they must be about young love/first times (at least one character should be between 16 and 25 years old). Can be LGBT or het, with any rating.
But! (And this is important!) The deadline is December 15, 2010.

I’ve been contemplating writing this post for several days. The two sides of my brain have been arguing over me being a sentimental sap and nobody wants to read this drivel to me wanting to express my appreciation, and what the support of my flist has meant during the year from HELL.

The people on my flist inspire me with their widerange of talents and their generous hearts. They keep me pluggin' when all those plot bunnies are standing around tapping their feet waiting for me to put pen to paper, and I got nothin'.
